What Does a General GP Appointment Cover?

A general GP consultation can address almost any health concern. Common reasons patients visit our GPs include:

  • Illness, infection, or injury that needs assessment and treatment
  • Ongoing management of chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, or heart
    disease
  • Referrals to specialists or allied health practitioners
  • Health assessments and preventative health checks
  • Mental health support and care plan coordination
  • Prescriptions and medication reviews
  • Results reviews and follow-up appointments
  • General health advice and lifestyle guidance

If you’re not sure whether your concern warrants a GP visit, it’s generally a good idea to
speak with a GP who can help guide you to the most appropriate care.

Routine Consultations

Whether you’re feeling under the weather, have a new symptom you’re unsure about, or simply need a script renewed, our GPs are here for the everyday moments of healthcare. Standard consultations are up to 10 minutes. If you have multiple concerns, let our team know when booking so we can allow extra time

Health Assessments and Medical Check-Ups

Regular health assessments help identify early signs of health concerns before they develop further. According to Australian Government health guidelines, preventative care plays an important role in supporting long-term health and wellbeing. Our GPs can conduct health assessments and work with you to develop a plan that supports your individual health goals.

Chronic Disease and Condition Management

Managing a long-term condition such as diabetes, asthma, heart disease, or arthritis requires consistent, coordinated care. Our GPs can help you develop and manage a GP Chronic Disease Management Plan, which may also allow you to access Medicare supported allied health services as part of your care team. We treat both acute (short-term) and chronic (long-term) conditions, helping you stay on top of your health day to day.

Mental Health Care Plans

Mental health is an important part of overall wellbeing. Our GPs can assess your mental health needs and, where appropriate, develop a Mental Health Care Plan — which may allow you to access Medicare-rebated sessions with a psychologist or other mental health professional. Consultations are conducted in a non-judgmental, supportive environment.

Prescriptions and Medication Reviews

Our GPs can review your current medications, issue new prescriptions, and discuss any concerns you have about your treatment. Regular medication reviews are particularly important for patients managing multiple conditions or taking several medications.

Specialist Referrals

If your GP determines that specialist care would be beneficial for your situation, they can
provide a referral to the appropriate specialist or hospital service. Your GP will discuss your
options and help coordinate your care.

Medical Reports and Certificates

Our team can provide a range of medical reports and certificates including medical certificates for work or study, information required by specialists or legal proceedings, and other documentation as needed. Please note that some reports and forms incur a private fee, our team can advise you of any costs when you enquire.
