Bulk billing is a payment option under Australia’s Medicare system. When a doctor bulk bills, they charge Medicare directly for the consultation rather than charging the patient. This means eligible patients pay nothing at the time of their visit — Medicare covers the full cost.
For many Bendigo families, pensioners, concession card holders, and parents of young children, bulk billing makes it much easier to prioritise health without worrying about consultation costs.
Who Can Access Bulk Billing at Bendigo Doctors?

New patients are very welcome. If you’re new to the practice, please arrive five minutes before your scheduled appointment and bring your photo ID, Medicare card, and any relevant concession cards.
FAQ
Effectively, yes, for eligible patients. Rather than charging you directly, we bill Medicare on your behalf, so there's nothing to pay out of pocket at the end of your visit.
You can still attend your appointment. Let our reception team know and they can look up your Medicare details using your name and date of birth in most cases. It's worth ordering a replacement card through myGov as soon as you can.
Each family member will need their own separate appointment. However, our team is happy to book back-to-back appointments for families — just mention this when you call or book online.
Standard consultations are up to 10 minutes. If you have multiple concerns to discuss, let us know when booking so we can allow extra time where possible.
Yes. While we're an appointment-based practice, we always welcome walk-in patients and do our best to fit you in on the day.
A private fee will apply for your consultation, payable on the day by cash, card, or EFTPOS. This may be claimable through your private health insurance — our team can provide a receipt for this purpose.
We're located at Bendigo Marketplace on Mitchell Street, with easy access for patients across Bendigo and surrounding suburbs including Kangaroo Flat, Strathdale, Eaglehawk, Golden Square and Epsom.
